Tango Privado

Live art and audio/video installation

tango privado-6

Tango Privado exists in two parts, as a live art and audio installation and a multi screen immersive video and audio installation.
Made for Tate Gallery St Ives 2007.

The artist turns viewer in to voyeur in a kind of tango peep show with audio monologues selected from a confessional style questionnaire sent to tango dancers. Dancers were asked to confide their most private and intimate obsession with tango. By displaying tango in an obscured and confined space, the artist uses the dance to explore notions of human relationships and boundaries in relation to obsession, intimacy and desire.
